BRIGADA ESKWELA

This year’s Brigada Eskwela (BE) will deviate from the traditional concept of physical cleaning, repair and refurbishing of school’s facilities.

The City Government of Parañaque and Stakeholders can support BE by donating gadgets, free WiFi, thermal scanners; hand sanitizing equipment/ materials; and printing of COVID-19 and sanitation/proper hand washing hygiene information materials to help introduce protection and health protocols to learners and teachers.

BE will also engage partners in the promotion and provision of learning options such as local radio and TV stations and other available media, and the printing of self-learning modules for distance learning, as a form of partnership to deliver the basic education curriculum in the time of COVID-19.

Bayanihan is a core essence of the Filipino culture. It is helping out one’s neighbor as a community, and doing a task together, thus lessening the workload and making the job easier.

Brigada Eskwela, also known as the “Bayanihan Para sa Paaralan (Working Together for Schools)”, added a new meaning to the Filipino concept of unity. From the image of barrio men bearing together the weight of a bahay kubo (nipa hut) on their shoulders to the image of volunteers braving storms and floods to help calamity-stricken communities, Brigada Eskwela brings to us a picture of people from different sectors of society repainting walls and blackboards, cleaning windows and doors, or repairing fences.

Sun Valley Elementary School believes that environment plays a big part in pupils learning. And so, if classrooms are not conducive to learning because of poor condition and some defective school facilities, education is hindered. This is the ultimate reason why this school has declared again its full support to this virtuous activity from June 1, 2020 to August 29, 2020 by launching it through National Virtual Kickoff Parade headed by the Department Of Education and our School Division of Parañaque and our very supportive and generous School Principal Dr. Ronel V. Corro and Asst. to the Principal Ms. Emily L. Santos

Educators believe that environment plays a big part in pupils· learning. And so, if classrooms are not conducive to learning because of poor condition and some defective school facilities, education is hindered. The school is an institution which is responsible in molding the learners into a responsible individual in the society.

The National Schools Maintenance Week or commonly called Brigada Eskwela, aims to prepare the school one week before its formal opening of classes. This year it was scheduled on May 21 to June 2, 2020 but because of Covid-19 pandemic strikes it moved to June 1 to August 29, 2020. The said activity was disseminated on fourth week of March through the school head. The BE coordinator together with the principal and the Master Teachers created the BE working committee. Thus, the group came up with the decision to have schedules to help for the duration of the weeklong implementation of the program.  It turned out as a successful national virtual kick off parade through FB livestream because it was viewed by our very supportive parents, teachers, pupils, GPTA officers, barangay officials, stakeholders and more.

Believing that the community cannot stand without the school, and likewise the school without the community, we greatly believed that the school is the face of the barangay. Thus, all the people in the community even those whose children were not studying in the school, gave a hand and volunteered to support the program. Therefore, the teachers are very much indebted to the stakeholders and to all the volunteers from private and government institution for without them, the following would not have been made possible.

These are the scope of works we do before and during Covid-19 pandemic strikes to our country.

  • Fixing of Garbage disposal
  • Repairing of classroom doors/ furniture
  • De clogging of drainage canals
  • Repairing of chairs
  • Repairing and Fixing of Bulletin boards
  • Cleaning of classrooms and office.
  • Repair of electric fans
  • Repair of minor classroom damages like blackboard/cabinets
  • Repainting of exterior walls of the building
  • Repainting the classrooms
  • Fixing of classroom faulty electrical wirings
  • Repainting of classroom doors, grills and all walls

Funds were procured through solicitation of the teachers from the community of Sun Valley and other Companies. With their unselfish cooperation and invaluable support, the Brigada Eskwela in Sun Valley Elem School turned out to be a successful one.

GULAYAN SA PAARALAN

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable Englfish. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
